About Scouts
Scouts is the third section within Scouting and is suitable for boys and girls aged 10.5 to 15 years of age.
At 1st / 14th Brighton Sea Scouts, the Scouts meet at the Scout hall once a week on a Thursday night between 7.00pm and 9.00pm where trained Scout leaders run activities and challenges for a troop of about 50 boys and girls.
Scouts are provided with the opportunity for personal growth through challenging and interesting activities.
Scouts receive expert instruction in a wide variety of outdoor activities and get the opportunity to learn many practical sills such as first aid, knots and lashings and even lighting a fire.
All scouts are all members of a patrol where they get to work as part of a team to plan and execute activities. Here they can learn about leadership and the importance of teamwork. Within the patrol all members regardless of age get to have their say.
Within Scouts there is so much to do. Activities are only limited by how creative you can be and how much fun you want to have.
Scouts meet regularly at the Scout Hall where they play games, particpate in exciting and interesting programs run by the leaders and also plan upcoming adventures.
Other activities Scouts might particpate in include outdoor activities (eg rock climbing, abseiling, sailing, caving), camping in the outdoors as a Patrol or with the whole troop and the Australian Scout Jamboree which is a camp held every three years and brings Scouts from all over Australia together for 10 days of awesome fun.
